Finding the Best Cryotherapy Products: Is Cryotech Nordic Right for you?

The cryotherapy market was worth $2.5 billion in 2015, and it’s projected to grow to $5.6 billion by 2024. This increase in demand is evidence that these products work.

Cryotherapy products are a blessing for patients who do not desire invasive procedures, or who are unresponsive to other therapy methods. Multiple conditions can be treated with cryotherapy – everything from cancer to chronic pain.

Cryotech Nordic is a manufacturer of cryo solutions based in Finland. To find out if this company has the right cryotherapy products for you, continue reading below.

Their Experience

Cryotech Nordic boasts a progressive team of both seasoned professionals and young, fresh faces. Together, their team works on technological solutions, aesthetic breakthroughs in cryotech, and business administration across the globe. Their scientific research is conducted both internally and with the input of a wide range of expert consultants.

Dr. Timo Kylmälä is the medical director of Cryotech Nordic. His medical career began in 1976. In 1982, he added general surgery to his title. Later, he dabbled in urology. This professional path suggests that Dr. Kylmälä is an experienced medical physician who is serious about professional development.

Dr. Kylmälä shares that he has closely followed the advancement of minimally invasive technologies since their inception. This not only includes cryotherapy but laser and ultrasound as well. As a former surgeon, Dr. Kylmälä personally believes in the benefit of minimally invasive procedures.

Their Aesthetics

Cryotherapy products are not limited to therapeutic technologies. Cryotechnology can also be used to improve human aesthetics through procedures like cryolipolysis.

Cryotech Nordic conducts cryolipolysis by using subzero temperatures to remove fat cells. This procedure is not invasive like traditional surgical liposuction or lipectomy.

Their cryolipolysis machine features four handles, user-friendly software, remote support, stainless steel, automatic temperature control, and a 19-inch touchscreen.

Their Cryotherapies

Cryotech Nordic houses four main cryotherapies. These include CRYO°CABIN, EQ°CRYO, X°CRYO, and VET°CRYO. These therapies exist primarily to improve sports recovery and general wellness. After all, cold therapy helps push lactic acid buildup out of your muscles.

The CRYO°CABIN is a complete cryotherapy cabin that envelopes the body, exposing it to subzero temperatures in a controlled manner. It only uses 1 liter of water, can conduct 100 sessions per day, and is CE/UL certified.

The EQ°CRYO is almost the same as the CRYO°CABIN- except that it was created for horses. It is the first of its kind on the market. If whole body cryotherapy is so beneficial to humans, why wouldn’t it be for horses?

This device is a smaller, handheld version of the CRYO°CABIN. It is less expensive than purchasing an entire cabin and is effective in treating localized areas.

As indicated by its name, this product focuses on cryotherapy for animals. Cryotech Nordic teamed up with the worlds leading veterinarians to provide the best cryotherapy for their furry patients.

Cryotech Nordic Solutions

Cryotech Nordic offers the latest technology in the Nordic region. This company is led by a well-seasoned medical professional who seems to believe in his team and the technology.

Look no further! Cryotherapy may just be the solution you need. Not familiar with cryotherapy? Don’t worry – most people are just now learning about this new technique for pain management.

One of the leading companies in the cryotherapy industry – Cryomachines Inc. – is at the forefront of this technology. Learn more about how they got started and their many products below!

What Exactly Is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy uses freezing cold temperatures to treat and manage muscle soreness, provide pain relief, and help with inflammation.  It can also be used to help manage anxiety, migraines, and treat some tumors.

With its countless benefits, there are many companies now promoting and manufacturing products for cryotherapy. Cryomachines, Inc. is on the forefront of this technology.

Cryomachines Inc.

Cryomachines Inc. is a leader in the cryotherapy industry. In 2008, they were among the first to bring this revolutionary new treatment to the United States

The company both manufactures cryotherapy equipment as well as distributes it to many treatment facilities. It created one of the top machines for cryotherapy – the Cryochamber M-Series – which currently has a patent pending.

They also provide their clients with consulting and safety training. This ensures that their products are used in a safe matter and are properly maintained.

Cryomachine Inc. Products

Here are their most popular cryotherapy products.

Cryo M1 Walk In Chamber

The Cryo M1 Walk In Chamber is unlike any other cryotherapy machine out there right now. It’s an all-encompassing chamber. When you walk in, your face is completely inside of the treatment room.

The M1 Chamber is considered one of the coldest chambers currently on the market. The temperature can go as low as -320 degrees F. It’s also considered very safe. You can breathe inside of it without any risk of nitrogen. There are 2 O2 sensors to monitor the oxygen levels as well.

This is a very user-friendly machine and can be used back-to-back without an issue. It also takes very little time to pre-cool which means clients do not have to wait. Finally, it has many cool features such as a sound system which allows clients to relax during their treatment.

Juka Cryosauna

If being fully immersed into a chamber make you feel uneasy, the Juka Cryosauna could be your solution. With this machine, your neck and head are outside of the chamber. This allows you to breathe in the room air and feel not so claustrophobic.

Like Cryo M1, there are O2 sensors to monitor your oxygen levels for safety. The Juka Cryosauna also has a door shut off to prevent any of the nitrogen from escaping the chamber. The Juka doesn’t get as cold as the Cryo M1 but still gets to an extremely freezing temperature of -260 degrees F.

This machine is easy to use with a screen controller. Since your head isn’t fully immersed in the chamber, you’re also able to easily communicate with the technician as you’re receiving treatment.

Metrum Cryo-T Elephant

This device is the least intrusive out of three cryotherapy products. Instead of entering a chamber, the Metrum Cryo-T Elephant is a handheld device that specifically targets the area of treatment.

By targeting specific areas, this device can help reduce swelling and pain with its cool temperatures. It can go as low as -238 degrees F. In addition to treating pain, it can be used for cryofacials as a beauty treatment.

The Metrum Cryo-T Elephant is safe with a laser sensor built in to prevent frostbite. It’s also user-friendly with a quick start and screen.

California Based Cryotherapy Manufacturer Cryo Innovations: Should You Choose Them?

Cryotherapy seems like the stuff of science fiction. You step into a chamber, press a button, and you’re given a potentially life-changing treatment.

Believe it or not, it was first the ancient Egyptians who wrote about treating inflammation with cold temperatures. Technology improved over the thousands of years and modern whole-body cryotherapy as we know it was born in Japan in the late 70s.

One of the companies making this technology mainstream is Cryo Innovations. Read our guide to all that they offer to make your decision if they’re right for you.

Who are Cryo Innovations?

Cryo Innovations is only a few years old. CEO Keith Scheinberg created this company in 2015.

Hailing from Newport Beach, California, their inspiration is the customer’s well-being both inside and out of the cryo chamber. Scheinberg was motivated by a woman’s death to create the perfect machine.

In 2015, a Las Vegas woman died trapped inside of a cryotherapy chamber. Because of this, Cryo Innovations makes sure their machines are not only effective but safe.

XR Cryotherapy Machine Features

The company’s main product is the XR cryotherapy chamber. It’s designed to be the best on the market and the safest.

Here are several of the incredible safety features it offers:

  • The door seals effectively but can easily be forced open and never locks
  • Monitors the oxygen level and heart rate of user
  • Feature emergency stop button and back up release valve
  • Sensors detect if user has fallen and shut the machine off automatically
  • Operator must touch screen every 30 seconds and prove they’re monitoring chamber
  • User and operator must both submit fingerprints to the machine to authorize operation

All of these safety measures help users feel confident stepping into the XR. These measures alone set this machine apart from many others in the field.

Efficient and User-Friendly

Both users and operators stand to benefit from using a XR. They’re efficient, easy to use, and guide the user through the process for optimum wellness.

Users can watch their progress on a monitor as the chamber fills with nitrogen. They can see what stage of the session their in and when their body has fully recovered from treatment.

Operators also benefit from installing the XR. They don’t use much nitrogen, as little as three liters, and run on as much electricity as it takes to power a TV.

The XR Cryotherapy Benefits

You might have a lot of questions regarding the benefits of cryotherapy and what the process is like. Here’s the how and why of using the XR machine.

You’ll be asked to put on protective gear, like socks and underwear. The operator will be with you during the process.

You’ll be in the machine for several minutes. Although the temps can get way below zero, you’ll only feel a slight chill at most.

Benefits of regular treatments can include weight loss, pain relief, reduced anxiety and depression, healthier skin and more.

Try the XR

Cryo Innovations places a high priority on health and safety. Try the XR and see if it’s right for you.

The Global History of Cryotherapy Benefits and their Modern Healing Effects

Cryotherapy has become a rapidly advancing and a historically significant health treatment since it’s benefits were first discovered by the ancient Greeks. They began to utilize this cold (cryo = Greek for ‘cold’) therapy (therapeia = Greek for ‘cure’) to treat pain and to benefit overall health. Hippocrates, known as the Greek ‘Father of Medicine’, showed his patients the value of ice and snow as treatments for pain, localized stiffness and inflammation.

The Whole Body Cryotherapy Experience Developed in Japan

Whole Body Cryotherapy was advanced in Japan in the late 1970s by the renowned Japanese rheumatologist, Toshima Yamaguchi. He utilized his cryotherapy research in providing localized freezing treatments on his patients, in short sessions, for pain management of rheumatoid arthritis and other pain issues.

Dr. Yamaguchi found this rapid temperature decrease on the outer layer of skin (epidermis) led to the immediate release of endorphins, causing people to become less sensitive to pain.

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) affects the body on three different levels:

  • The Biochemical level – the circulatory system
  • The Energy level – the energy meridians
  • The Information level – the nervous system

With these cryo-procedures, Dr. Yamaguchi found he could significantly reduce the soreness and pain his patients usually felt during manipulation of their joints.

Advancing Modern Technology and Health with
”Whole Body Cryotherapy” (WBC), ”Air Cryotherapy” (ACT) and “Cryosauna”

In the 1980s, while continuing his research on the effects of Whole Body Cryotherapy, Dr. Yamaguchi and his associates came to the conclusion that rapid short-term freezing of the skin’s surface to a temperature of -1 degrees Celsius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit while inside the cryo-chamber has a more beneficial effect on the human body than its gradual cooling while immersed in an ice bath, where the lowest temperature possible is only 5 degrees Celsius or 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

Because of Dr. Yamaguchi’s research, modern therapy advancements have led to the exposure of the entire body to these extreme temperatures with the development and creation of cryogenic chambers.

Further research in Europe and Soviet Russia revealed the benefits of Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) on patients suffering from chronic inflammatory conditions, as well as on elite athletes training programs. Cryotherapy has become highly refined in modern times and is a curative health treatment involving exacting, extremely low temperatures (below -130 degrees Celsius or below -266 degrees Fahrenheit) as the optimum temperatures for curative health benefits.

These advancements continue to provide health benefits for many types of issues in all adult ages groups across the globe.

The Effect of Whole Body Cryotherapy on Inflammation

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) has become increasingly popular in sports medicine and popular culture. Many professional athletes and celebrities use WBC to “enhance recovery after injuries and to counteract inflammatory symptoms resulting from overuse or pathology”.

Whole Body Cryotherapy Induces Anti-Inflammatory Effects

A study of 69 physically active male subjects (including 10 professional rugby players and 39 healthy individuals) that were treated with 30 cryo sessions lasting 2 and a half minutes each, resulted in several new findings [1].

One of the notable findings was that WBC induces anti-inflammatory effects. Findings show that WBC stimulates the anti-inflammatory response while also noting that the fitness capacity of each individual affects the inflammatory response to WBC in non-athletes (the physical condition of participants had a direct effect on the magnitude of the benefits received).

The study also calls for further investigations to focus on establishing, whether reduced inflammation has a beneficial effect on athletes’ performance if training was to be combined with cold therapy.

Study Suggests that Cryotherapy Decreases Symptoms of Depression

According to a study done on 23 participants (37 to 70 years old), whole body cryotherapy can be used to treat anxiety and depression [1].

In this research study, participants were treated to 10 whole body cryotherapy procedures, each session lasting 2 minutes and 40 seconds at temperatures of -150°C or -238°F for a total test duration of 2 weeks.

The participants were selected randomly from a larger group of depressed day hospital patients. Both study groups were able to continue taking their medications. The 21 Item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) was used to measure their symptoms at the beginning and the end.

Results show that almost every single participant’s HDRS score along with the overall score for all patients were significantly lowered after the treatments of Whole Body Cryotherapy. The study then concludes that cryotherapy indeed has a considerably positive affect on relieving patients suffering from depression from the symptoms of depression.

Top 6 Benefits of Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy helps with many things such as muscle recovery, skin rejuvenation, reducing inflammation, decreasing chronic pain, reducing anxiety and depression, and helping with weight loss.

1) Cryotherapy helps with Muscle Recovery

Cryotherapy is most commonly used in the world of sports medicine as a means of providing pain relief and helping muscles recover quicker.  This is popular among professional athletes and fitness gurus.  In studies performed, a majority of athletes performed better after cryotherapy treatment, marked by less exertion, lower heart rates, and less oxygen consumption. This science behind this is that cryotherapy results in more oxygen available to the working muscles and less strain on the cardiac system. In a controlled study where individuals were treated with cryotherapy prior to exercise, they showed a decrease in inflammation, allowing for faster return to activity with less recovery time.

2) Cryotherapy is used for Skin Rejuvenation

For those with skin issues, such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and others, many have found that cryotherapy has healing benefits for skin troubles. In a subject study, cryotherapy resulted in reduced skin abnormalities, likely due to reduced water loss from the skin, better hydration, and more.

3) Cryotherapy Reduces Inflammation

Inflammation is the result of our body’s the immune system fighting infection. However, chronic inflammation is linked to major health issues, like diabetes, depression, dementia, arthritis and even cancer.  Reducing inflammation can reduce the risk to those with the potential to suffer from those ailments. Some studies suggest that cryotherapy can reduce overly reactive inflammation. When the body is exposed to extreme cold temperatures, the blood vessels constrict and reduce blood flow to the areas of inflammation. Cryogenic treatments decreased pro-inflammatory protein (cytokines) levels and increased the presence of anti-inflammatory proteins, in those that went for repeated cryo treatments. Whole Body Cryotherapy has anti-inflammatory and pain relieving qualities. The findings indicate that the degree of cooling depends on the BMI (Body Mass Index) and fitness level of the subjects.

4) Cryotherapy Decreases Chronic Pain

Cryotherapy has been shown to improve general well-being and actually improve quality of life for those suffering from chronic pain such as lower back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and pain in muscles and joints.  Cryotherapy reduces pain by decreasing inflammation, increasing anti-inflammatory proteins, improving antioxidant balance, and increasing endorphins. Studies have shown that chronic pain sufferers show pain relief after repeated cryotherapy treatments, with lower pain sensation in muscles and bones, faster recovery, improved mobility, and other improvements including less fatigue and better sleep.

5) Cryotherapy Reduces Anxiety and Depression

The body is one interconnected system, and how we feel mentally can be altered by physical treatment. Studies have shown that whole body cryotherapy sessions can help to heal psychological strain. Individuals suffering from anxiety and depression, after undergoing cryotherapy treatments, along with their doctor-prescribed medication, were found to have lower symptoms of anxiety/depression and increased mood due to the treatment.

6) Cryotherapy is for Weight Loss

Proponents of cryotherapy believe it supports the weight loss process. In cryotherapy, the extreme cold temperatures force the human body to work harder to keep warm, which burns calories. It also boosts metabolism, which helps you to continue to burn calories throughout the day. Many cryotherapy users claim a single session can burn hundreds of calories.
